About MDCS (Meter Data Collection Services)

MDCS has taken a new and innovative approach to the capture and delivery of meter data.  This unique approach has substantially reduced manufacturing costs as well as the delivery and distribution of metrology data.  The accuracy of multiple data parameters is repeatable, dependable and secure.  The features of this solution at this value are simply not available in the market today.

The MDCS solution is spawned from over 70 years of experience and historical relationships with key customers and suppliers.  The company is squarely focused on small and medium utilities including muni’s and co-ops that need low cost of ownership and ease of use to make the transition to the next level of AMI/AMR technology.

“For too long, many utility companies in the US have been unable to move forward with new technology because of the cost to change infrastructure and upgrade products.  MDCS has a cost effective way achieve complete AMI performance throughout the service area,” says George Davies, VP of MDCS.  “The KILOWAZE meter is the result of several years of creative hardware design and software ingenuity.  The KILOWAZE meter and long range network combination presents a new standard in the marketplace,” says Ron D’Ambrosio, CEO of MDCS.

Meet Our Team

Ron D’Ambrosio,
CEO

For almost 20 years, Ron D’Ambrosio has been Founder and CEO of Glacier Computer, www.glaciercomputer.com.  The experience as a manufacturer of rugged industrial computers and systems integrator has served as a backdrop to several other synergistic business opportunities.  North Peak Data was one such offspring that became a reseller of similar products and enabled Glacier to offer a full complement of additional hardware to the existing customer base.  In 2016, Glacier purchased an Oracle partner database development company called Datafase, which enabled Glacier customers the added dimension of cloud computing for their rugged computing customers.

The Glacier team made the list as one of the Top 100 Fastest Growing companies by Entrepreneur Magazine.  It was also one of INC Magazines top 5000 fastest growing companies in the US and was awarded twice elected to the 50 Fastest Growing Companies in Connecticut.

In 2018, Ron along with other members of a new management team started Meter Data Collection Services: www.meterdcs.com.   MDCS has developed a new smart electric meter that is sold to utility companies.  It is an ANSI approved AMI meter that delivers data faster, more accurate and at a much lower cost than others on the market today.  The company uses a proprietary network using standard industry protocols to deliver the data to the utility.  In addition, through Datafase, MDCS is able to offer utility companies the added benefit of Meter Data Management Software tools.

“This all sounds like a really great plan now, but it wasn’t so apparent 6 months ago.  We have been very fortunate in the way that things have fallen together, “says the vigilant opportunist D’Ambrosio.

A graduate of Ohio University’s BBA program, a native of Pittsburgh and an avid Steeler fan, in spite of it all, Ron is a husband, father and grandfather who enjoys the struggle of keeping his handicap “down” in the teens.   He enjoys hiking, lake activities and serving on various local boards in the town and community.
